Increased fuel-economy standards and carbon dioxide (CO2) regulations implemented by the Obama administration have increased the cost of new cars and trucks by $2,700 since 2014. Further increases, enacted in the twilight of Obama's presidency, would add another $600 to most vehicle prices by model year 2025.
