Unemployment is higher, and rising slightly faster, for men in
the United States than for women. This is in part because industries
dominated by male workers, such as construction, are shrinking. It is
also in part because women are achieving higher levels of education
than men, and workers with higher levels of education have lower
unemployment rates in the current economy.
