Begun in 1949, Circuit City became the naiton's second-largest consumer electronics store behind Best Buy. Due to deteriorating economic conditions and consumer spending, the company filed for bankruptcy in November 2008. By March of this year, all 567 stores throughout the U.S. had been shut down.
