Kashkari: We're Running Out of Time to Solve Too Big to Fail

|

In a FOX Business exclusive, Neel Kashkari, President of the Minneapolis Federal Reserve, discusses his push to end too big to fail--legislation enacted to prevent financial crises and enforce transparency of the financial system. He responds to a question about what he finds extremely worrisome about big financial institutions.

NEEL KASHKARI: Well, the biggest risk right now that I'm worried about is just that we are running out of time. If we don't act while we still remember how bad the crisis was, I'm afraid we're going to turn the chapter on this. We're going to tell ourselves, "Hey, this problem can't happen again."

And in 20, 30, 50 years from now, we may face another terrible crisis like we did in 2008. As you know, societies tend to forget. Everybody moves on. We need to deal with the crisis once and for all. Deal with the too big to fail issue so that 20 or 50 years from now so we're not back in the same situation.
