The S&P 500 Rally: How Far Have We Come?

This chart by Doug Short packs lots of information into a small space.  It shows the S&P 500 from the peak in 2007 to the present.  Shows how far down it went — almost 57% — and how far back it has come since the low point in early March 2009.  Despite the very big gain, the S&P is more than 21% below the peak value.

Also this chart illustrates the various dips and declines we have experienced.  It’s a good way to start the week by seeing where we have been:
