Goldman Sachs's decision to unveil a long-awaited set of internal reforms to respond to its critics last week has inspired me to undertake a similar exercise.
I, too, will embark on an eight-month introspection period, consulting both friends and foes on how to become a more hard-working journalist, a more caring husband, a more compassionate human being, in other words, a better man. This quest for self-improvement will culminate in a 63-page report whose gist will be: I really care about you and I will try really hard to be good but if I fail, my shortcomings will be fully disclosed.
