WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Plenty of time and energy are being expended arguing about whether we’ll have another recession in the United States. But that’s not the most interesting question. Most people don’t really care if the U.S. economy meets the arcane technical definition of “recession.” They care about whether they have a job, whether their wages will grow faster than the cost of living, whether they’ll be able to buy or keep their own home, and whether their savings are growing so they can retire or send the kids to college.
