Germany Can't Save the Eurozone

Ever since the European debt crisis began, the clarion call has gone out for Germany to step up and write a check to bail out their fellow European countries that have found themselves at the precipice of defaulting. But that call has not been heeded, and many people have wondered why. Instead, Berlin has asked for tighter fiscal controls and more uniformity in public spending -- to make more of the continent “German.”
