Tomorrow's Economic Elite

Income and educational attainment in America are highly correlated. Individuals have a strong financial incentive to gain additional education because the present value of the increase in lifetime earnings exceeds the cost of tuition. Subsidies to encourage prospective students to enroll in college are therefore not necessary and very likely counterproductive.
