Blame DC, Not California, For Lost Amazon Taxes

Just twenty years ago, planet earth was home to fewer than fifty websites. Yet, how taxes might be applied to internet sales was determined well in advance of the conception of Amazon.com or Overstock.com. In that same year, the United States Supreme Court reversed a decision by the North Dakota Supreme Court to apply a use tax on sales in states where retailers did not have a physical presence, or nexus.
