The Problem with Poor Countries' GDP

Traditionally, one of the guiding factors for development aid has been per capita GDP â?? the value of goods and services produced by a country in a year divided by the countryâ??s population. Yet GDP may be a very inaccurate indicator in the poorest countries, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa.
