Climate change denial reached new heights recently in the HBO series “Vice.” For uninformed viewers of the Bill Maher series, Season One, Episode Eight paints a picture of a static-climate earth, straight from the annals of the Flat Earth Society. Climate change, the episode argues, does not naturally happen. Shut down carbon dioxide emissions, the episode argues, and we can stop climate change.
Apparently ice age glaciations never happened. Nor was the earth ever bathed in the warmth necessary for the dinosaur age. According to Vice, these are all figments of our collective scientific imagination. The episode argues that climate change does not occur without humans burning fossil fuels, and humans can stop all climate change by going back to pre-Industrial Revolution energy sources.
