China is quickly becoming the world's next great superpower, but it's not an easy transition for everyone living there.
For members of the growing wealthy class, the country offers no shortage of opportunities. There's also the palpable sense that China is climbing to new heights, and that no other country is going to stand in its way.
But people of all income levels see China's growing pains. The debilitating pollution in the cities affects everyone. Corruption runs rampant, despite a government crackdown on unethical behavior.
China will fix many of its problems, to be sure; it has little choice if it wants to continue its march toward global dominance. And while America is far from perfect, sometimes it's worth reminding ourselves that the quality of life here compares pretty well with China and other nations.
