The Promise of Silicon Valley, the Perils of Big Gov't

The high-tech industry has done for information what industrialization did for goods.  Mass production made necessities out of former luxuries as the price of cloth, cars, and other goods fell for a century plus.  Similarly, the global distribution channel called the Internet has expedited the exchange of information.  The consequences of the digital revolution, like its industrial predecessor, are both immediate and long-term.
