Jeremy Lin was in purgatory on February 1, 2012. After the Houston Rockets had released him on Christmas Day, the injury-riddled New York Knicks picked him up. They treated him as point-guard depth for a month. He was confined to the bench and destined for release once some injured players returned.
The undrafted Lin needed a chance, but the Knicks had little reason to give him one.
