The eight stocks designated as the “Dogs of the Dow” for 2016 have an aggregate gain of 16.7% for the first nine months of 2016. The leader by a mile is Caterpillar with a gain of 30.6% year-to-date. Even the laggard of the eight, Exxon Mobil, has had a solid gain of 12% year-to-date.
