For long-time holders, Berkshire Hathaway BRK.B +% has been a stellar investment. But for those with a thirst for yield it has been a big dud. Despite Buffett’s affinity for buying companies that pay regular cash dividends and buy back shares, including Apple AAPL -0.09%, IBM IBM +0.17%, Deere & Co and General Motors GM -0.31%, his own holding company, Berkshire, has never once paid a dividend since he became involved with it in 1962.
