The 2016 NFL season has been nothing but unconventional from its anthem protests to a drop in NFL ratings amid a heated Presidential election competing for attention.
One of the more overlooked public stories has been the proposal to move the Oakland Raiders (who are having a surprisingly incredible season) to Las Vegas as the team has had difficulty finding public financing for a new stadium in California, a state well-known for its fiscal problems. While L.A. Rams owner Stan Kroenke has vowed to build the new Rams stadium without public money (after prematurely leaving St. Louis with a heap of unfunded stadium debt), Raiders owner Mark Davis has been on the lookout for public subsidies to finance a new stadium.
