Retirement is biggest purchase you'll make. While your fancy new iPhone, sweet sports car, gigantic house, or that Ivy league education for the kids may each seem over-the-top expensive (because they usually are), they typically don't even come close to the cost of retirement. Retirement is very, very, very expensive. Think of it this way: If you want $100,000 income a year in retirement, you will most likely need about $2.5 million saved to fund this goal (note, retirement costs a lot more in today's low-interest-rate environment). Not exactly peanuts.
