The new FHFA proposal, much like older Senate plans, seeks to preserve and expand as much of the old housing finance system as possible. If that system hadn't been ground zero of the 2008 financial crisis, maybe this new alliance between FHFA, Treasury and the Senate alliance wouldn't be so scary.
