The confetti from Super Bowl LIII was still drifting in the air, and the Lombardi Trophy had yet to be awarded to the New England Patriots, when the annual wave came through social media. With the NFL season officially over, Major League Baseball and its fans had started the chants of “We're up next” and “It's our turn!” But as had been the case in 2018, the lead-up to the MLB season seemed like more of a sigh than a battle cry. For the second year in a row, the once-mighty Hot Stove had been lukewarm.
