On May 15, 1997 Amazon floated its shares to the public at $18. If you purchased $10,000 worth of the stock on IPO day you’d have holdings worth $12 million today. That very few can lay claim to having made this investment speaks to how great the skepticism was about Amazon 24 years ago.
