Activist Investors Serve Useful Market Function

Across the nation in the plush C-suite offices of publicly-traded corporate America, there has long been a disdain for the activist investor. I am referring to the type of an individual who proactively seeks certain outcomes from the companies in which they are targeting. These people are the opposite of the passive investor – who buy and sell stocks and do well, or poorly, based strictly on the company’s stock performance.
