According to University of Chicago economics professor Casey Mulligan, what he deems “inflation” was actually instigated by then Vice President Kamala Harris. Wow! Who knew VPs had so much power? Except that such flippancy isn’t fair to Mulligan.
What he means is that in breaking two U.S. Senate ties on the way to the passage of the American Rescue Plan of 2021 and the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, Harris’s “yea” votes in favor of both led to an increase in federal spending “by more than $3 trillion.” According to Mulligan, “These laws didn’t reduce inflation; they caused it.”
