The Biden Administration’s January 2024 pause on liquified natural gas (LNG) exports to non-free trade agreement countries merely formalized a de facto ban that had been in place since the beginning of Biden’s term. This policy is at odds with our official foreign policy goal of helping our European allies wean themselves from Russian energy and has hindered the creation of thousands of high-paying jobs. Ending this policy should be a high priority for the new Trump Administration.
