AI is headed for its dot-com moment. Its society-bending potential is real, but AI’s emerging reliability gaps are so significant – and the costs to cover for them so great – that its payoffs will be smaller and take years longer than any hype-mode AI CEO would have us believe.
That will predictably send markets toward a dot-com-like nosedive as this expectations vs. reality gap becomes more visible and more obvious. Open AI’s revenue slowdown is just the first pin to come at the bubble.
