Despite Recent Market Moves, '26 Has Been Calm

Here is a string of numbers for you: -2.6, 0.3, -0.3, -1.6, 1.8. These are the S&P 500’s daily price returns, in percent, from Friday June 5 through Thursday June 6, a week’s worth of trading days.[i] Given three of these five numbers are greater than 1% up or down, talk of volatility kicking off is increasingly commonplace, as if this spell is unusually wobbly.
